Theo Krynauw is a Freelance Illustrator living and working in Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa. He grew up in Pretoria and has been making art ever since he was a small boy. Theo attended Pretoria Boys High School before completing his graphic design degree (BAInformation Design) at the University of Pretoria in 2006.

Theo has been a freelance illustrator since 2006, he moved to New Zealand in 2007 where he continued with his freelance illustration career as well as teaching childrens' drawing classes at Bramlys Art and Creative School, before returning to South Africa in 2009 to continue doing what he loves ...drawing pictures. Theo has illustrated books for Penguin Books (NZ) and Protea books (book illustration being a passion of his), as well as illustration for character development, design and branding campaigns. He has also worked as a freelance animator focusing on 2D animation and background artworking.

His work has a humorous and expressive quality. Theo works in pen and ink, watercolour, acrylic and oil paint. He also produces digitally coloured and vector illustration. His skills range from loose expressive images to highly detailed renderings.
