Vian Oelofsen received a B.A. Fine Arts Degree in graphic design at the University of Stellenbosch in 1996.

He later completed a B.A.F.A Honours degree in illustration and in 1999 his first picture book 'Net Perfek', written by Rachelle Greeff, was published by Human & Rousseau.
Since then he has been working as a freelance illustrator and cartoonist. He works mainly with pen, ink and water colours. Some of his work for the children's story "Jamie and Sebastiaan" written by Martie Preller can also be seen in the weekly edition of 'Vroue Keur' magazine.
